We decided to start a farm, but here is what we didn’t expect to happen… (Secrets to Farming)

Secrets To Farming:
#1: Expect the Unexpected:
Momma cow never had trouble calving in 5 years. Well, you look through the herd and realize she has a calf stuck that needs to be pulled. You proudly built that fence to hold water, well, some animals are just Houdinis. You decided to invest in some really nice, beautiful new gates, and then a cow jumps on one of them and smashes it in on day 1. You'll quickly learn to just go with it.
#2. Love Thy Neighbor:
We all need each other, and we are simply blessed to be surrounded by some of the best. Have a tractor stuck by the road that happened in the dark overnight? You'll have 5 calls by 8 AM asking if everything is okay, and at least one will be there with their tractor and chains ready to pull you out. Forget to turn the water off to the tank, and you're headed to a market? With one call, it's taken care of. Just as it takes a village to raise kids, the farming community understands it takes many hands to keep things running. We return the favor whenever we can and bless them with gifts of the fruits of the farm.
#3. Set a budget, but don't be mad when it gets blown.
It will look to be a good month, then bam, your truck will have a flat tire, and the next thing you know, the tractor will blow up and need an overhaul.
#4. Be Flexible.
Be willing to change your plans based on market projections, customer requests and feedback, and shifting of times. Don't be stagnant.
#5. Don't Expect to be Anywhere On Time, Ever.
Spend 5 hrs prepping to go somewhere, then walk outside, and every animal you own is in your front yard and trying to get on your wrap around porch. If you make a plan to attend a wedding or another family gathering, just apologize ahead of time that you'll be fashionably late. It never fails. Although it seems like there's always a dumpster fire burning behind us, we wouldn't trade this life for anything.
